I’m Alive is a live online network that uses instant messaging to respond to people in crisis. It is the world’s first virtual crisis center where 100% of the volunteers are trained in crisis intervention. Using the Chat Now feature, a user can immediately connect to receive assistance. This service is FREE and is available online.
Step Away offers alcohol addiction help when friends, family, therapists or groups may not be available or immediately present. A pilot study funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism on an early version of the application found that this pro-sobriety app helped reduce heavy drinking among users by 60 percent. Step Away offers tips on maintaining sobriety, encouragement, and strategies to avoid drinking during stressful times. It’s available as a FREE phone application.
